The cost of going to a Coahoma County High School football game just got a little bit more costlier after the county school district’s board of trustees approved a ticket increase during Tuesday night’s meeting.
The board voted unanimously, with board member Milroy Harris absent from the meeting, to increase the prices from $5 to $7.
The high school football team opens the season at home Thursday night when they play North Panola.
“We’re trying to build an athletic program and be competive not only on the field, but also outside at the gate,” said Interim Superintendent Ilean Richards, who suggested the price increase.
Richards said the ticket increase was in line with what all the other schools in the county and surrounding area were charging.
Board member Patrick Campbell said jokingly, “Dr. Richards, we’ve never done what everybody else does.”
The high school will also host two tailgates during this football season as part of an effort to raise funds.
