Clarksdale residents and businesses got some good news Monday when bids were opened to handle the city’s municipal waste needs.
Republic Services, who currently handles Clarksdale’s garbage needs, was the only company to submit a bid.
Their proposal called for leaving the rates the same. The last time there was a price increase for garbage service was in January 2018, said a representative from Republic who was at Monday’s meeting of the Clarksdale mayor and board of commissioners.
The commissioners voted unanimously to accept Republic Services’ bid and continue with the company.
Also included in the bid was a quote of $750 per day in which Republic Services would provide a knuckle boom truck and employees to assist the city in removing curbside waste. The service would be available on Wednesdays and Fridays.
