Members of the Clarkdale Press Register’s advertising team were recognized among the state’s best during the Mississippi Press Association’s Mid-Winter Conference held Friday and Saturday in Jackson.
An ad for SouthGroup Insurance Services that ran in the Press Register’s football preview on Aug. 15 was judged the best black-and-white retail advertisement in the class of weekly newspapers in Mississippi.
The judge’s comment was, “Grabs my attention.”
The duo of sales manager Brenda Keller and graphic designer Tracey Hankins-Riley teamed up on the winning entry.
Altogether, the Press Register staff won four second-place awards and a third-place award in addition to the first-place entry.
“We have a dedicated and talented team here at the Press Register,” said Publisher Michael Banks. “We strive to give our best effort in partnering with our advertisers to give them the best results possible. And these awards are just a small example of the good work that we’re doing at this newspaper.”
The Press Register’s Classifieds section, which is compiled by office manager Sandy Hite, received a second-place award, as did the newspaper’s Women In Business and Healthy Living sections. Banks and Riley combined for a second-place award in the classified display ad category and a third-place award for a small space ad.
