As production for the movie “Purple Church: With God All Things Are Possible” is getting closer, changes have been made delaying the filming until April.
The majority of production will be in Clarksdale, while some of the film will be made in Memphis, according to executive producer Marie Pizano.
“We had some shifting of directors and we now are going to do a complete rewrite to give the characters more depth and really get this thing rolling in April — schedules with the known actors we want gets tricky maneuvering but you will see us in Clarksdale this weekend checking out hotels,” she said.
Jeff Celentano, who just worked on the film “Glass Jaw” that was released by Sony, was recently named the director of “Purple Church: With God All Things Are Possible.”
“He is on his way here so we can scout out all locations from Memphis to Clarksdale,” Pizano said. “We received a lot of resumes for extras and that was helpful.”
Former Clarksdale mayor Bill Luckett is an executive producer also playing Judge Peters in the film. Laura Bernieri is an associate producer.
Some of the other details for the upcoming film have already been taken care of.
“We got some smaller roles filled such as Russell Holmes to play a strip clubhouse bouncer in the film he’s on the hit series on discovery channel called garage rehab,” Pizano said.
Bobby Rush will play himself in a scene at the Ground Zero Blues Club where he will sing.
Billy Falcon, best known for writing hits with Bon Jovi and Cher and he wrote the song in the movie “Country Strong” starring Tim McGraw and Gwyneth Paltrow, came on board to write and the recording of the theme song to the film “Purple Church: With God All Things Are Possible.”
Artist Jeremiah Tucker's songs will be featured in the film his new song called "Come Home to me Honey. "
Pizano is looking to involve the local community in Clarksdale.
“We are looking for companies and products that would like to be featured and it’s a great opportunity to get your company seen in movies,” she said.
“Every time you watch movies you see Pepsi or an iPhone etc pizza delivery and all sorts. It would be great to get real local businesses involved to be seen in the films instead of made up businesses.”
Local businesses that would like more information about getting involved may contact Donna Johnson at sales@MVP3media.com. The film has already partnered with ECT at www.dotect.com.
“They have invested in us and we are placing their products and technology appropriately in the film,” Pizano said.
Anyone who wants to be an extra in the film may submit their resume and headshot to purplechurchfilm@gmail.com.
