Billy Joe Williams, 81, went to be with the Lord Monday morning April 20, 2020, at Oxford Health and Rehab in Oxford. Billy Joe was born in Sumne, on March 25, 1939, to his parents Joe and Lily Rogers Williams. Billy Joe was married to Meadie Rice Williams for 43 years. Billy Joe served in the United States Army and later worked as an operations manager at Stephens-Adamson in Clarksdale.
Billy Joe was passionate about duck hunting and deer hunting. He loved working in his yard and making it as perfect as could be. Billy Joe also loved spending time with his dog, Katie.
Billy Joe was a member of First Baptist Church Sumner where he served as a deacon, taught the youth in Sunday School, was a choir member, and was a member of the Men’s Sunday School class.
He is survived by his wife, Meadie Rice Williams; his sons, Joe Williams, Mack Ely (Stephanie) and Michael Ely (Shay); one daughter, Mona Ouellett (Dan); one sister, Helen McCullough (Thomas); granddaughters, Ceciley Belvin (Brice), Ashley Ely and Taylor Porter; his great grandsons, Rowan Belvin and Hayes Belvin. Billy Joe is preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Lily Williams; sisters, Ava Mitchell, Lexie McKee, Dorothy Wood, and Margaret Williams; brothers, Joseph Williams, Ernest Williams, William Henry Williams, and Bobby Williams.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Baptist Church Sumner, P.O. Box 145, Sumner, MS 38957.
A family graveside service will be held Friday April 24, 2020 with a memorial at a later time.
