On Sunday, May 31, 2020, Helen Walk Bowman, loving mother of two daughters passed away at the age of 82.
Helen was born in 1938 in Clarksdale to Allen and Ethel Williams. She received her business degree from the University of Memphis graduating Summa Cum Laude. She enjoyed great career success at the Corps of Engineers and later with The Defense Depot of Memphis. She had two daughters Debra Walk McClure (Jim) and Angie Walk.
After retirement, she put her energy and talents into the Arts. She was an accomplished actress/songwriter and received several awards for her short films. She spent the last few years living in Nashville near her daughters. She had many passions including painting, gardening, and watching the Memphis Grizzlies. She was fascinated with the stock market and became quite the savvy investor. She was known for her infectious smile and her generous, compassionate spirit.
Helen was preceded in death by her father and mother, her husband, Ron Bowman, her brothers Harvey, Herbert, and Lonnie. She is survived by her two daughters Debra and Angie, and her brother Horace and his wife Bonnie.
Visitation will be held from 10 to 10:45 a.m. Friday, June 5, 2020 at Meredith-Nowell Funeral Home in Clarksdale. Graveside service will be 11 a.m. Friday, June 5, 2020 at Memorial Gardens in Clarksdale. Flowers and sympathies may be sent to the funeral home at 314 E. 2nd St., Clarksdale, MS 38614.
