Juanita Carroll Flemmons, age 89, passed away June 28, 2020 in Hemphill, Texas. She was born January 21, 1931 to Leslie Burns Carroll and Ganetie Switzer Carrroll in Cleveland. She spent most of her life in Mississippi and was a Jehovah’s Witness.
Juanita married Marvin Flemmons following high school graduation and they celebrated 63 years together prior to his passing.
Much of Juanita’s adult life was spent in Greenwood and Clarksdale, Mississippi. She worked as a dental assistant, and for Production Credit and Sherard Farms. She was also everyone’s favorite, award winning “Avon Lady.”
She and Marvin retired to Jennings, La., to be near family. After Marvin’s death, she moved to Huffman, Texas to live with her daughter and son-in-law, before eventually moving to a nursing home.
Juanita planted beautiful roses and daylilies everywhere she lived and family members everywhere have thriving starts from her plants. She was generous, friendly, gentle, courageous, hard working, and determined, even while facing adversity.
She is survived by her children Kenn Flemmons (Mari) of Little Rock, Ark.; Linda Johnson (Ernie) of Bronson, Texas; Scott Flemmons (Kathy) of Welsh, La.; her sister Marty Miller of Madison; her grandchildren Amber King (Johnny); Geoff Flemmons; Allen Flemmons (Brittany) and Nathan Flemmons; and great-grandchildren Stella Grace Flemmons, Korey King, Sara King and Jenna King.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
