Sister Lottie Mae Green Stewart was born on Feb. 28, 1953 to the late Mr. Sylvester (better known as Jack) and Mrs. Aree Johnson Green in Lula. She later migrated to Rudyard with her family and attended the public schools of Coahoma County; Hull Elementary, Coahoma Agricultural High School and Coahoma Community College of Clarksdale where she made many friends and acquaintances.
Lottie, (Bunchie) as she was affectionately called, was baptized at an early age at New Hope Missionary Baptist Church in Jonestown, where she continued serving God and remained a faithful attending member until her demise on July 21, 2020. Lottie enjoyed spending time with her family, her pastor and wife, friends of all ages and conditions in life. Lottie, being a former standout athlete in fast-pitch softball and basketball, enjoyed attending all types of sporting events; football, basketball, or baseball, and later enjoyed watching her children and grandchildren play.
Lottie later met and married Leon Stewart and they were blessed with three wonderful children. She continued living in the Jonestown community after the death of her husband in 2011. While living in Jonestown, she was active in the community, participating in church events, political activities, social gatherings, parades, athletic events, etc.
Though she has departed this life, her love of life, her humor, and kindness will forever be remembered. Lottie always opened the doors to her home to all who came by. In the opinion of most people, she was blessed with a special gift of “caring for and being concerned for people.”
Preceding Lottie in death were her parents: Sylvester & Mrs. Aree Green, her husband, Leon Stewart, Jr., her sisters; Ethel Green Staples, and Julia Green Davis, her brother-in-law Robert Staples, her father and mother-in-law, Mr. Leon Stewart, Sr, and Bernice Stewart, a sister in-law, Belinda Stewart; Aunts: Daisy Scott, Lillie Dugar, and Tearesia Foster.
Lottie leaves to cherish her memories: her devoted daughter, Brenda Green Crockett, (Steve); two Sons, Christopher Butler (Kim), and Patelas Stewart; brothers: Donald Green, Sr. (Nelia), of Clarksdale, Wiley Johnson, of Syracuse, N.Y., and Charles Green of Flint Mich..; one sister Catherine Johnson (J. C. ) of Jonestown; a very special granddaughter, Jasmane Stewart whom she adopted and cared for as her own daughter; two aunts, Lula Blackmon of Chicago, Ill., and Pearlie Fair of Memphis, Tenn.; six Grandchildren, six Great Grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
