Linda Brooks Whitehead, 79, a retired teacher from Clarksdale,, died Tuesday, July 28, 2020 at North Mississippi Medical Center. Graveside service is 9 a.m. Thursday, July 30, 2020 at Oakridge Cemetery in Clarksdale. Meredith Nowell Funeral Home in Clarksdale is handling the arrangements.
Linda graduated from Sienna College and Memphis State. She was a member of the Dominican Sisters of Peace in St. Catherine, Ky., Clarksdale Cedars Club and St. Elizabeth Altar Society. She taught several years at Carl Keen Vo-Tech. She also worked for several departments of the Federal Government; Social Security, IRS and the USDA. Most recently, she worked for Chapman, Lewis and Swan.
Survivors include husband of forty-five years Frank Whitehead; sons Thomas Whitehead, Greg (Elizabeth) Whitehead; brother Carter Brooks; sisters Mimi Strohm, Judy (Ed) Exum; grandchildren Brooks Whitehead, Carter Whitehead.
Preceded in death by parents Abe and Elizabeth Farris Brooks.
In Lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to St. Jude Research Hospital.
