Thomas Allen “Tommy” Agostinelli, Sr., age 72, passed away on Sunday, December 25, 2022. He died peacefully in his home in Lyon, Miss., surrounded by his wife and children.
He was born on December 29, 1949, in Clarksdale. Tommy graduated from Coahoma County High School in 1967. He graduated with a degree in mechanical engineering from Mississippi State University in 1972. Tommy was a member of the Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (ROTC) and served as a Lieutenant in the United States Army Reserve.
He made a career at Baxter Pharmaceutical in Cleveland, Miss., where he retired after 28 years. He ended his career at Johnson McAdams Firm, PA, in Greenwood, after 12 years.
Tommy was an Engineering Manager at Baxter Pharmaceutical and received multiple engineering awards. He made significant contributions to Baxter’s new product start-ups and expansions, particularly with the Plastic Pour Bottle Process.
Tommy was a crappie fisherman and an avid Mississippi State sports fan.
He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and strongly supported St. Elizabeth Catholic School. He was a proclaimer and usher at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church. Tommy was a man of faith and loved his family dearly.
His sense of humor and ability to always make you laugh was endearing to everyone who knew him. He was loved by his friends and family and will be missed by all who knew him.
Tommy is preceded in death by his parents, Viola Mangialardi Agostinelli and Peter Agostinelli; brothers, Pete Agostinelli and Robert Agostinelli; and sisters, Margaret Agostinelli Lipsey and Mary Esther Agostinelli. He is survived by his loving wife, Meg Agostinelli, of 50 years; daughter, Clare Agostinelli; son, Thomas Agostinelli, Jr., and wife, Jennifer Agostinelli; and grandchildren, Mary Morgan Agostinelli and Amelia Agostinelli.
The visitation will be at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Clarksdale, MS, on Wednesday, December 28, 2022, at 10 a.m. followed by the funeral service.
