CLARKSDALE - Coach Davey Lee Farris, Jr., 71, a retired Coach and Teacher at Coahoma County School, died Dec. 14, 2024 at his residence.
Visitation is Thursday, Dec. 19, from 10 to 11 a.m., at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Clarksdale, Mississippi. Funeral mass will be 11 a.m. at St. Elizabeth. Burial will follow in Oakridge Cemetery.
Meredith Nowell Funeral Home in Clarksdale, is handling arrangements.
Coach Davey Lee graduated from Clarksdale High School, University of Mississippi and Delta State University.
One of his life’s most exciting rewards was the naming of the Coahoma County Football Stadium to "Davey Lee Farris, Jr. Field." He was a member of St Elizabeth Catholic Church.
Survivors include: his wife of 47 years Gussie Olivi Farris of Clarksdale; two sons Davey Lee Farris, III (Lauren) of Dallas, Texas and Jake Farris (Tiffany) of Memphis, Tenn.; a sister Andrea Farris of Clarksdale; and three grandchildren Wesley Farris, Wright Farris and Truett Fox Farris.
He was preceded in death by his parents Davey Lee Farris, Sr. and Martha Fox Farris and brother Greg Farris.
