Coahoma County High School dropped its district openers at Northside High School in Shelby, Friday night.
The Red Panthers (1-1), the Class 2A Mississippi High School Athletic Association state basketball champions, lost 44-32.
Senior Amarion Phillips had 15 points on five 3-pointers, junior Tyler Martin had seven, junior Christopher Abby had five, sophomore Cameron Bell had three and senior Martin Williams had two.
The Lady Red Panthers (0-2) lost 41-17.
Freshman Matia Crawford led CCHS with four points; sophomore Armoni Redmon, freshman Aiesha Williams and junior Mariah Crawford had three each; senior Tyana McClenton and sophomore Zanedra Martin had two each.
CCHS hosts Madison Palmer High School in district matchup Friday night with tipoff set for 6 p.m.
