Clarksdale Police have been busy with a number of incidents over the past week and have made several felony arrests in connection with investigations.
As always police are asking the community for help in solving these cases by calling 911 immediately if they are the victim of a crime.
Auto Burglary
Police were called to the 800 block of Spruce Street on Friday, July 24, on an auto burglary
The complaint said a 9 mm handgun was stolen from her car.
Auto Burglary
Police are investigating the burglary of a trailer truck in the 1000 block of North State Street that occurred Saturday, July 25.
Police were called to Family Dollar after an unknown number of items were taken from a trailer
Grand Larceny, Felony Malicious Mischief
Police were called by two complainants who said a man took their cells phones and later destroyed them. One of the phones was valued at $1,200.
The incident occurred Saturday, July 25 in the 600 block of Leflore Street and suspect is being sought by police.
Shots fired, man arrested.
Police were called to the 500 block of North State over the weekend and made an arrest in the incident.
Omarion Phillips, 19, was arrested and charged with discharging a firearm within the city limits.
Felony Arrests
• A male juvenile, 15, was arrested for Aggravated Assault. Bond was set at $100,000.
• Christopher Smith Jr., 24, was arrested and charged with Enticement of a Child for Sexual Purposes. Smith’s bond was set at $50,000.
Shooting into Dwelling
Clarksdale Police have arrested Jimmy Lofton, 30, on charges of shooting into a dwelling following the investigation of an incident that saw multiple shots fired into apartments at 425 Washington on July 20.
Lofton was charged with three counts of shooting into a dwelling and his bond was set at $150,000.
Firing shots inside the city limits of Clarksdale is a misdemeanor but can be enhanced to a felony if the person shooting has a previous conviction for certain crime or the shots were premeditated with intent to cause hate, harm or fear.
If any person shoots a firearm of any nature or description into any house or any other building usually occupied by persons, whether actually occupied or not, they shall be guilty of a felony whether or not anybody is injured.
Upon conviction they will be punished by imprisonment in the state penitentiary for a term not to exceed ten years, or by imprisonment in the county jail, fined up to $5,000, forced to pay restitution for damages, all at the discretion of the court.
Auto Burglary
On July 19, an auto burglary was reported to Clarksdale in the 1100 block of Wildcat Drive and the complainant reported nothing was taken in the incident.
Aggravated assault
On July 19, police responded to the emergency room on a report of a subject that had been shot. The incident occurred on the 300 block of Tallahatchie.
Investigators are actively working this case.
Residential Burglary
On July 20 officers responded to the 900 block of Anderson Boulevard and spoke with the complainant who said some unknown to them broke in their residence and stole multiple IPad. Entry was made through the back door.
Auto Burglary
On July 12 officers responded to the 800 block of Vincent Street on an auto burglary.
The complainant stated that someone stole two handguns, a rifle, a shotgun and two game consoles from the vehicle.
Burglary
On July 8, police were called to the 100 block of West Second Street on a home burglary.
The victim said while they were gone, someone broke in to the residence and stole a game console, shoes and a purse.
Burglary
On July 9, officers were called to the 1500 block of Martin Luther King about a burglary.
The victim said while they were away someone broke into the residence and stole a 55-inch television and an IPhone.
