It was a busy week for Clarksdale police as they investigated a report of arson, the shooting of a house where a man was hit in the arm, two burglaries, several thefts, and of course, reports of shots fired in city neighborhoods.
Arson
Officers responded to the 700 block of Lincoln Place in reference to a car fire.
The owner of the vehicle reported she captured a male subject dousing her vehicle with gasoline and setting her car on fire.
This incident is under investigation but no arrest was reported in this incident as of Monday afternoon.
Man shot in house
Officers responded to the 1300 block of Maple Street in reference to a shooting that targeted a home and hit a man inside the house.
Police reports said officers arrived on the scene and saw where someone fired several shots into a residence. Police said a man at the scene was hit twice in the arm as he was sitting on a sofa.
The man was transported to the Clarksdale Hospital Emergency Room for treatment.
Police said the incident is under investigation. Police did not give a motive for the shooting or if it was related to other crimes Clarksdale.
Burglaries
Police are investigating a burglary in the 200 block of Catalpa Street were someone gained entry to the residence by removing a security bar from a window.
The homeowner reported a Harman Kardon HiFi, valued at $1,000, was stolen from the residence.
This incident is under investigation.
Police also are investigating a burglary reported in the 500 block of Barnes Street where forced entry was discovered into the home. The owner reported a washer and dryer stolen from the home.
This home burglary is also under investigation.
Grand Larceny
Officers responded to the 1500 block of Broad Street in reference to a stolen Honda ATV 4- wheeler.
The owner said the 4-wheeler was parked in their backyard and valued at $5,400.
Theft
Police were called to the 100 block of Byrd Cove after a silver 2020 Ford F-150, bearing license plate CG15091 was reported stolen from his carport. Police reports said the doors of the vehicle were unlocked and the keys were in the console.
Police also responded an auto burglary in 100 block of Byrd Cove. In that incident the owner said a 2020 GMC truck was entered and an AR-15 rifle was stolen. Police reports said the doors to the truck were unlocked at the time of the burglary.
Shots Fired
The Clarksdale Police Department responded to the following calls of shots fired over the weekend:
• 700 block of Garfield Street
• 300 block of Jefferson Street
• 500 block of School Street
Anyone with information about these incidents or any felony in Clarksdale is urged to contact police at 621-8156, or simply dial 911.
