The Clarksdale Police Department has reported two home burglaries on Espy Drive in the space of two days and the burglary of an auto on North State Street.
On Friday, June 3 Clarksdale Police responded to 1840 Espy Drive to a burglary call.
Police reports said once on the scene the victim stated several game consoles, controllers and apple watches had been taken.
On Saturday, June 4, Clarksdale Police responded again to a burglary call at 1840 Espy Drive.
Police reports said the victim said someone had broken into his residence and stole a 60-inch television.
Anyone convicted of breaking and entering a home or inner door of a dwelling whether armed with a deadly weapon or not, and even if at the time the dwelling house is not occupied, with intent to commit a crime, shall be placed in the custody of the Mississippi Department of Corrections for not less than three years nor more than 25 years.
Auto Burglary
On Monday, June 6, officers took a report of an auto burglary on the 500 block of North State Street. The complainant stated a handgun was stolen from inside his vehicle.
The community is reminded that a conviction for possession of a stolen firearm can result in a sentence of up to five years in prison. Conviction for a second offense shall be considered trafficking in stolen firearms punishable by commitment to the Department of Corrections for not less than fifteen years.
