The Mayor and Board of Commissioners say crime is not a problem, but if you live in Clarksdale you might think differently.
The Clarksdale Police Department has released reports on over a dozen incidents over the past two weeks ranging from aggravated assault and armed robbery to grand theft auto and several burglaries of homes. While police responded to more calls for help than this, these are the cases made public by police.
Residential Burglary
Police responded to the 700 block of Pecan Street and took a report on the theft of a television and an air conditioner.
Residential Burglary
Officers were called to the 200 block of Florence after the victim reported a break in. It is unknown at this time if anything was taken.
Felony Arrest
Clarksdale Police have arrested a man on a variety of violent crime charges as well as allegedly breaking into a home.
On Monday, August 29 Clarksdale Police Department Investigators arrested Fredrick Nabors Jr., 27, on four counts of Aggravated Assault-Domestic Violence, two counts of Aggravated Assault, one count of Shooting into a dwelling and one count of Residential Burglary.
Nabors bond was set at $200,000.
Conviction on any of these charges could result in a prison sentence with the aggravated assault charges carrying up to a 10-year sentence on each count.
Residential Burglary
On Tuesday, August 23, Officers took a report of a burglary at 1015 Sasse Street.
The victim said an unknown subject(s) broke in through the front door and took a televisions and jewelry.
Grand Larceny
On Friday, August 19 police responded to the 200 block of Highway 322.
Upon arrival officers spoke with a man who said some unknown to him cut the lock off of his work trailer and stole an assortment of tools.
Grand larceny is defined as theft of over $1,000 and carries up to 5-years in prison, a fine and restitution.

Burglary
On Friday, August 19, Officers took a report of a burglary on the 300 block of Oakhurst Street. The victim said someone came in through the back door and took two televisions, various medications and a small amount of cash.

Armed Robbery
On Saturday, August 20 police were called to the 100 block of Catalpa Street.
Officers were told by the complainant they were buying a cell phone from an individual when that person him of his cash and the cell phone.
Armed robbery is considered a serious crime in Mississippi and conviction of this crime can result in a 20-year prison sentence.

Auto Burglary
On Sunday, August 21, Officers took a report of an auto burglary in the 500 block of Pecan Street.
The complainant stated the vehicle was unlocked and some unknown subject(s) stole a .45 caliber
handgun from inside.
Possession of a stolen weapon is a felony and can result in a prison sentence of up to five years. The sentence is magnified if the person in possession has a previous felony record. A person can be charged with possession of a stolen weapon even if they bought the weapon from someone else.
Auto Burglary
On Sunday, August 21 police were called to an auto burglary in the 600 block of Ritchie Street.
The complainant stated that some unknown subject(s) went inside the vehicle and took a 9mm handgun.
Auto Burglary
On Sunday, August 21 police were called to a report of an auto burglary in the 100 block of Cherry Street.
The victim said neighbors contacted her and said an unknown subject was going through her vehicle.
Upon the complainant said the vehicle was unlocked and nothing appeared to be missing.
Home Burglary
On Sunday, August 21 police took a report of a burglary in the 800 block of Russwin Street.
The complainant stated someone took a 65-inch television, microwave and food items.
Neighbors are being asked to contact police if they saw anyone carrying any of these items during this time frame.

Shots Fired
Police responded to a call of shots fired in the 1000 block of Maple Street. Officers checked the area and nothing was found
Burglary
On Wednesday, August 17 police were called to the burglary of a shed on the 600 block of Oakhurst Street.
Upon officers arrival the victim said two unknown black male subjects broke into the shed and took two items. Officers were able to recover one of the items, a pressure washer, in the alley.

Shots Fired
Police were called to the area of Cherry and Cheyenne streets on a report of shots fired.
Officers checked the area and nothing was found
