On Thursday, Feb. 13, at approximately 11 p.m., the Clarksdale Police Department responded to an alarm call in the 400 block of Desoto Avenue.
When officers arrived on the scene they made contact with a female who stated that she was just robbed at gunpoint by an unidentified male.
Police did not give the name of the location or business robbed or a description of the robber.
Armed robbery is a violent felony and is among the most serious crimes in Mississippi.
Armed robbery can carry a stiffer sentence than manslaughter, aggravated DUI causing death, drug trafficking, shootings, and some forms of murder. Armed robbery can carry up to life in prison, served day-for-day, without parole.
A person can be convicted of armed robbery even if he just makes an attempt.
Armed robbery, as the name implies, requires the use of a deadly weapon in the robbery. Examples of deadly weapons can include firearms, knives, baseball bats, bricks, golf clubs, broken bottles, and even automobiles.
Guitar stolen
On Friday, Valentine’s Day at approximately 10 a.m., a subject came to the Clarksdale Police Department and told police his guitar had been stolen from his vehicle.
The subject stated that someone made entry into his vehicle and stole his guitar, at the time; the subject didn’t see anything else missing.
Police did not give a location of the theft or a description of the guitar or if the thieve had been spotted on any surveillance cameras carrying the guitar away from the crime scene.
