The Clarksdale Police Department has reported the following crimes. The incidents are listed by date, type crime and a brief description.
May 28-29, 2024
Residential Burglary:
• A burglary was reported in the 1300 block of Smith Street, an iPad was reported stolen.
Aggravated Assault:
• A male subject was shot while walking in the 800 block of Bishop Dawson, he sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
Aggravated assault is defined as injury or threat to a person to make them fear for their life or assault with a weapon. It is punishable by up to 20-years in prison and a $10,000 fine. An adult who assaults a juvenile can find the penalty enhanced to 30-years in prison.
May 23-28, 2024
Stolen Vehicle:
• On May 23, a 2018 Dodge Ram 3500 pick-up truck was reported stolen in the 600 block of State Street. The truck was later recovered in Yazoo and a male subject was taken into custody.
Residential Burglary:
• A burglary was reported in the 700 block of McKinley, food items were reported stolen.
Shooting into an Occupied Dwelling/Vehicle:
• Shots were reportedly fired into a home in the 1500 block of Smith Street. No injuries were reported.
• Shots were reportedly fired into a home in the 1200 block of Seminole. No injuries were reported.
• Shots were reportedly fired into a home in the 2000 block of 7th Street. No injuries were reported.
• Shots were reportedly fired into a home and a vehicle in the 700 block of Magnolia Street. No injuries were reported.
• A juvenile was struck by a bullet riding in a vehicle in the 100 block of West Second Street. The injury was reported to be non-life-threatening.
Commercial Burglary:
• A male subject was arrested for breaking into a business in the 1100 block of Wildcat Drive.
Shots Fired:
• 200 block of Spruce Street
• 200 block of Adams Avenue.
Police are asking residents to call them immediately when they hear shots fired in their neighborhood, give a location of where the shot came from and police will respond to the scene and check for evidence.
May 21-23, 2024
Auto Burglary:
• A .357 Smith and Wesson handgun was reported stolen from a vehicle in the 500 block of Florida Street.
Residential Burglary:
• A residential burglary was reported in the 1700 block of Espy Drive. Electronics and window air conditioners were reported stolen.
Shots Fired:
• 900 block of Page Street
