Rosa Fort High School opened district play with a 38-8 victory at home against Byhalia Friday.
"It feels good to go ahead and win in convincing fashion," said coach Kwame Jackson. 'It feels real good. We're clicking at the right time as far as athletes playing good ball. O-Line and D-Line are playing good ball right now so it feels great. We've got to refocus and continue playing hard and fast and physical."
Trevious Metcalf had an 80-yard kick return for a touchdown for the Lions (2-4, 1-0) and Frednardo Stokes ran in the 2-point conversion.
Stokes had a 2-yard touchdown run and ran in the 2-point conversion.
Stokes had a 15-yard run and Ahmad Harris ran in the 2-point conversion.
Marcus Calhoun had a 7-yard touchdown run and Stokes ran in the 2-point conversion.
Tyler Scott blocked a punt and Metcalf recovered it in the end zone for a touchdown.
Tarvis Davis had an interception.
Harris caused and recovered a fumble.
Calhoun caused a fumble that Metcalf recovered.
Rosa Fort is at Independence at 7 p.m. Friday.
Palmer beats Strayhorn
Madison Shannon Palmer High School opened district play with a 38-0 win at Strayhorn Friday.
The Dragons (1-5, 1-0) won their scrimmage game, but it was the first victory of the regular season.
"It felt good just to score," said coach Billy Fields.
"I wasn't going to bring him back to QB 1 until a conference game. He had a couple of concussions last year."
Xavier Valentine was a wide receiver in earlier games, but played quarterback Friday.
"Starting running back has been hurt since the North Panola game," Fields said. "It was his first game back."
Latraveon Wilbourn was the running back and rushed for more than 100 yards.
Wilbourn scored twice, Quintavieon Davis twice and ran in a 2-point conversion, Valentine on a quarterback scramble and Semaj Barber scored on a sweep.
Quintavieon Davis had 12 tackles, Orlandus McClain ran back an interception 40 yards to help set up a score and Yuri Conley had two sacks at defensive end.
"The defense played for quarters for the first time," Fields said. "Good to get a win. Hope we're going in the right direction."
The Dragons' homecoming next week is against Amanda Elzy at 7 p.m. Friday.

Tunica Academy fell to 2-4 with a 52-20 loss at Manchester Academy.
Tunica Academy is at Delta Academy at 7 p.m. Friday.
Delta Academy improved to 4-3 on the season with a 40-34 victory against Lee Academy, Ark.
