On Saturday, November 14, 2020, local Alcornites presented Mr. Samuel Blackburn with two of his favorite things, a sweet treat and a gathering of friends!
Mr. Blackburn officially celebrated his 100th birthday Nov. 19.
This was one of the many celebrations of Mr. Blackburn, a 1948 graduate of Alcorn College (now Alcorn State University), and longtime pillar to many in the Clarksdale community.
The group gathered at the West End Clubhouse in Cleveland and was feted by the Epsilon Xi Lambda Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha fraternity. Blackburn is still active in the chapter and serves as Treasurer.
