WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Roger Wicker, R-Miss., on Saturday reacted to the wave of attacks on Israel by Iranian-backed Hamas militants:
"I stand with Israel in the face of this unprovoked attack by Iran-backed Hamas militants. As our best ally and friend in the Middle East, the safety and security of Israel must always be our priority. I strongly condemn these acts of terror and fully support Israel's right to defend itself. I am praying for Israel today."
“Today’s attacks underscore the Biden administration’s naïve approach to Iran. President Biden’s lenient policy has sent billions in cash to Iran to continue its funding of terrorists and has jeopardized our closest regional partner, Israel. I will continue holding this administration accountable to support Israel and deter Iran.”
An Associated Press article on the Clarksdale Press Register's national website said militant Hamas rulers of the Gaza Strip have carried out an unprecedented, multifront attack on Israel, firing thousands of rockets as dozens of Hamas fighters infiltrated the heavily fortified border in several locations and catching the country off-guard on a major holiday.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu declared Israel was “at war” and called for a mass mobilization of army reserves.
The invasion revived memories of the 1973 war practically 50 years to the day.
