Mississippi Supreme Court allows Favre’s defamation lawsuit against Auditor White to continue

The Mississippi Supreme Court has denied State Auditor Shad White’s request to dismiss a personal defamation lawsuit filed against him by NFL Hall of Famer Brett Favre.

White petitioned the court in March to overturn Hinds County Circuit Judge Debra Gibbs’ order allowing the case to continue.

Auditor’s Office Arrests Former Public School Employee

JACKSON – On Monday, State Auditor Shad White announced that Special Agents from his office have arrested Candace Morris, a former Meridian Public School District employee, for allegedly embezzling funds that had been collected for the purpose of performing drug screening and new employee background checks for the district.

Former Benton County Tax Collector Pleads Guilty to embezzling $300,000

JACKSON – State Auditor Shad White announced Wednesday that Shannon Wilburn, former Benton County Tax Collector, has pleaded guilty to one count of embezzlement.

Wilburn took more than $300,000 in daily collections paid to the Benton County Tax Collector’s office for his own personal use.
