Mississippi State University junior cornerback Kelley Jones, a 2023 Clarksdale High School graduate, announced he would return for his senior season. Jones, 6 feet, 4 inches, 195 pounds, finished with 2 interceptions and 11 pass deflections in 2025. He is fourth-highest graded amongst SEC cornerbacks and first in forced incompletions with 11. Jones also blocked an extra point and ran it back for 2 points in the Duke’s Mayo Bowl Jan. 2. Mississippi State lost to Wake Forest in the bowl, 43-29.

Smith names CPR's 2025 top athlete

Coahoma County High School senior Zechariah Smith excels at four different sports.
Smith’s positions on the football field include fullback, middle linebacker, quarterback, kicker and punter. He is also a power forward on the basketball team, a pitcher on the baseball team and throws the shot put in track.
