A senior at Coahoma County High School and collegiate prospect, Shuniia Wrenn is at the top of her game. Recently a member of the 2019 Girls’ Delta Valley Conference Champions, Wrenn serves as the third leg on the girls’ 4x100 meter relay team, runs the meters and also long jumps. Aside from track and field, she plays basketball and runs cross-country. Of the three, Wrenn named basketball as her favorite.
In eighth grade, Shuniia’s basketball coach encouraged her to participate in track and field. It allowed her to individually showcase her talents as an athlete, and throughout the years she began to excel in her techniques. When asked about any pre-performance rituals, Wrenn answered, “Before I race, I always listen to a guided meditation and very calming music, and I feel like I usually have a good outcome. So, it helps.”
Often described as a positive role model and leader by her teachers and peers, Shuniia has certainly left her mark at Coahoma County. She has received several leadership awards and is a member of the National Honor Society currently holding a 3.98 GPA. Wrenn is considering attending Tennessee State University or Ryder University and has received an academic scholarship offer from Coahoma Community College.
