Two department heads were sworn in during the Clarksdale Board of Mayor and Commissioners meeting on Monday.
Vince Ramirez was sworn in as the police chief and Laketha Covington was sworn in as the city clerk.

Lee Academy falls in championship, 32-20

JACKSON—Lee Academy came within one quarter of winning the football program’s first state championship, but fell a little short down the stretch.
The Colts (8-4) lost to Centreville Academy 32-20 in the MAIS 2A Division I State Championship at Jackson Academy on Friday.

Elgton Jenkins of the Green Bay Packers and Juantavius “JT” Gray of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers presented their fourth annual turkey drive giveaway at the Clarksdale Fire Station last Friday.
Jenkins and Gray are both 2014 Clarksdale High School graduates.
