It was a 15.08% voter turnout in Coahoma County for the March 10 primaries in the US Senate and US House of Representatives Second Congressional District races, but all of the local leading vote-getters won their elections.
A total of 2,079 ballots were cast and there were 13,158 registered voters.
Incumbent Bennie Thompson is the US House of Representatives Second Congressional District Democratic nominee while Ron Eller is the Republican nominee. The general election between Thompson and Eller is Nov. 3 and the winner would be slated to serve a two-year term.
Incumbent Cindy Hyde-Smith is the Republican nominee for the US Senate seat while Scott Colom is the Democratic nominee. The general election between Hyde-Smith and Colom is Nov. 3 and the winner would be slated to serve a six-year term.
In the Democratic primary for the US House of Representatives Second Congressional District, Thompson received 1,631 votes (91%) in Coahoma County. Evan Turnage received 146 votes (8%) and Pertis Williams received 25 votes (1%). Thompson received 61,013 votes (86.1%) statewide, Turnage received 8,914 votes (12.6%), and Williams received 893 votes (1.3%).
In the Republican primary for the US House of Representatives Second Congressional District, Eller received 145 votes (56%) while Kevin Wilson received 110 votes (43%). There were 3 write-in votes. Eller received 12,554 votes (50.9%) statewide while Wilson received 12,120 votes (49.1%).
In the Republican primary for the US Senate, Hyde-Smith received 242 votes (88%) in Coahoma County while Sarah Adlakha received 29 votes (11%). There was 1 write-in vote. Hyde-Smith received 125,557 votes (80.8%) statewide while Adlakha received 29,806 votes (19.2%).
In the Democratic primary for the US Senate, Colom received 1,060 votes (65%) in Coahoma County, Priscilla Till received 351 votes (22%), and Albert Littell received 205 votes (13%). There were 7 write-in votes. Colom received 105,716 votes (73.1%) statewide, Till received 26,642 votes (18.4%), and Littell receives 12,266 votes (8.5%).

Other November 3 elections
The qualifying deadline to run for the Coahoma County seat on the Yazoo-Mississippi Delta Levee Board is Monday, May 4th at 5 p.m.
Otha Williams resigned from the seat after being elected as the District 26 State Representative.
The Coahoma County Board of Supervisors appointed Birley Gipson to fill the seat in Williams’ absence.
A special election to determine who will fill the seat for the remainder of the term will be Nov. 3, 2026.
Coahoma County Prosecutor John Sherman retired from his position on Dec. 31, 2025.
The Coahoma County Board of Supervisors appointed attorney Chris Finn to fill the seat in Sherman’s absence.
