A Memphis man is in custody and two people are dead following a Friday evening accident in Tunica County that is believed to be alcohol related.
The accident occurred about 7:10 p.m. Friday, Nov. 24, near Casino Strip Boulevard and Fitzgerald Boulevard.
Authorities were notified via Tunica 911 of a serious two vehicle accident and the North Tunica Fire Department, Pafford EMS and Tunica County Deputies were dispatched to the scene, arriving in minutes.
Deputies determined that a male, identified as 63-year-old David Bailey Barbour, of Byhalia, had been killed in the accident. Pafford EMS transported a female, identified as 67-year-old Elizabeth Ann Russom of Myrtle, to Robinsonville Medical Clinic to await an air medical ambulance. During the transport, Russom succumbed to her injuries.
The driver of the other vehicle, identified as 45-year-old Dwayne Bowens of Memphis, was transported to Baptist Desoto with minor injuries.
Bowens was taken into custody at the hospital for driving with license suspended, no insurance and two counts of aggravated DUI resulting in death. Upon release from the hospital Bowens was transported to the Tunica County Jail.
