Absentee voting is a bid deal nationwide as candidates try to get out voters who will cast a ballot for them and Coahoma County is no different.
Coahoma County Circuit Clerk offices will be open from 8 a.m. to noon for in-person absentee voting Saturday, Oct. 26, and the last day to vote in-person absentee is noon Saturday, Nov.2.
All mail-in absentee ballots must be postmarked by Election Day Nov. 5 and received by county circuit clerk offices by Nov. 13.
As of Monday – two weeks before Election Day – the Secretary of State’s office released that the Statewide Election Management System reported a total of 86,525 absentee ballots had been requested and 84,636 absentee ballots were sent.
Of that, 67,802 absentee ballots have been received this week in the state of Mississippi for the 2024 November General Election, up about 10,000 from last week.
Nearly 234,000 Mississippians had their votes accepted in the 2020 election by way of an absentee ballot. In 2016’s November General Election, just over 103,000 absentee ballots were accepted.
In addition to the national Presidential Election, Coahoma County voters will also vote for a U.S. Senator, U.S. Representative and several judicial posts.
Voters will also cast a ballot in some districts for Election Commissioners and Coahoma County School District School Board Trustees. Voters can also write in a name.
The polls open at 7 a.m. and close at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 5 General Election.
