The Tunica County Sheriff’s Department has arrested a local man on charged of felony hit and run.
Authorities received a 911 call saying a man was lying in the road on Old Highway 61 on Wednesday, July 5, at 9:39 p.m., and when deputies arrived on the scene just south of Mhoon Landing Parkway in Tunica they discovered the victim unresponsive.
Pafford Ambulance Service was dispatched and treated a black male, who was severely injured. The victim, Michael Bell, 38, of Tunica, later succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead by the Tunica County Coroner.
An investigation at the scene suggested Bell has been struck by a vehicle and evidence recovered by authorities led to a vehicle description.
On Thursday, July 6, the Tunica County Sheriff’s Office arrested De’Aryius Williams, 22, of Tunica, and charged him with felony hit and run.
