A 21-year-old man has been charged in a shooting that sent one man to the hospital on Monday, Jan. 14.
Malik Howard is accused of shooting Jalen Ross while Ross was sitting in his vehicle in the 1700 block of Sommers Street on Jan. 14. Ross didn't suffer life-threatening injuries, police said.
Officers were called to the Northwest Mississippi Regional Medical Center around 1:15 p.m. in reference to a shooting victim.
Later that day, and following a brief foot pursuit, Howard was apprehended by Clarksdale police officers in the 700 block of McKinley Street.
He was charged with aggravated assault, shooting into an occupied vehicle and shooting into a dwelling.
Howard was transported to the Coahoma County Jail where were awaited an initial appearance in Clarksdale Municipal Court on Tuesday, Jan. 15.
