Clarksdale Police respond to series of shootings over the weekend

Clarksdale Police have responded to a series of three shootings over the weekend with one at a highway business and two more at homes in the community.
The incidents saw multiple shots fired but only one person injured by gunfire. Police did not say if the incidents were connected.

Dr. Wilma Wade, 74, of Clarksdale, passed away Sunday, October 9, 2022 at home.
A viewing will be held Friday, October 14, 2022 from 1 to 5 p.m. at Delta Burial Funeral home in Clarksdale.
A funeral service will be held Saturday, October 15, 2022 at 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church with Reverend Valmadge Towner presiding.

Neal, Jefferson plead guilty to embezzling $750,000 from CCC - Mayor Espy, Trustee Hawkins ask for leniency

Former Coahoma Community College employees Gwendolyn Jefferson and Stacie Neal were each sentenced Monday to serve five years in prison.
Both women pleaded guilty to conspiracy and embezzlement following an investigation by the State Audit Department.
