Reuben Martell “Marty” Eubank, born May 9, 1940, in Coahoma County, Miss., to Reuben and Ruth Dunaway Eubank, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Sept. 29, 2023. He was 83 years old.
A family visitation will be held at Meredith Nowell Funeral Home and a graveside service will be held Tuesday, at 2 p.m. at Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Clarksdale.
Marty lived his entire life in Coahoma County except for the time he served in the United States Army where he was stationed in Karlsruhe, Germany after basic training in Fort Leonard Wood, Mo. He and Lynn enjoyed a trip back to Germany where they traveled the Rhine River, and he was able to see the place where he and his fellow soldiers built bridges across the Rhine.
He attended Sunflower Consolidated School and Friars Point School in Coahoma County. He was the owner of Marty’s Barber Shop in Clarksdale where he has barbered since 1971.
He married Lynn Davis Eubank on March 24, 1963, and lived in the community of Rena Lara, since 1964. He was a member of Rena Lara Baptist Church where he served on the Properties Committee, the Lord’s Supper Committee, and as a Deacon. He ran over 20 marathons in his lifetime including three Boston Marathons and two in Stockholm, Sweden. He enjoyed building and flying model airplanes. Marty was a selfless person who made himself available to help others with his talents in wood working, refinishing firearms, and many other things.
Marty was preceded in death by his parents, Reuben and Ruth Eubank, by his beloved daughter, Amy Ruth Eubank, his brother, Robert Gene Eubank, and his sister, Nell Frances Cirilli. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Lynn; daughters, Ginger Eubank (John) Worthington of Merigold, and Julie Eubank (Tim) Usry of St. Peters, Mo. He is also survived by his sister, Marie (Rodger) Plain of Rockwall, Texas; and his brother, Alvin “Sonny” Eubank of Yorktown, Va. He leaves two granddaughters, Brittany Linkous of Oxford and Lindsey Usry of St. Louis, Mo, and four grandsons, Dr. Jake Linkous (Brianna) of Cleveland, Miss., Connor (Alex) Usry of St. Louis, Mo., Chase Usry of Nashville, Tenn. and William (Anna) Worthington of Gueydan, La.. He also leaves many nieces and nephews and more friends than can be counted.
