Seventh-grade phenomenon and already a threat on the track, Treashon Clark is easily becoming a familiar name. Of the four events she competes in (200m dash, 100m hurdles, 300m hurdles, and the 4x200m relay), Clark states her favorite being the 100m hurdles.
Also a cheerleader, Clark says she enjoys math as it comes easily to her and definitely plays a role in her love for going to school. Described by administrators and coaches as motivated and determined, Clark speaks highly of her track and field coach, Derrick Moore. “He really is a great coach. He helps us with form and encourages us all the time,” says Treashon.
“She’s my ‘go-to,’” says Moore. “She finishes in first and second only to her teammate (who won state last year). So that says a lot about her athleticism. I appreciate the effort she brings to the table, and if ever someone’s hurting or burned out, she steps up.”
Having run a couple of the same events her mother ran in school, Clark is excited to finish this season strong and definitely do it again next year. There’s no doubt we’ll be hearing great things about this Coahoma County High School protégé.
