Patterson receives Emerging Artist Award

Jayven Patterson of Clarksdale was chosen to receive the Emerging Artist Award from the Jersey Shore Jazz & Blues Foundation (JSJBF). Christine Clark Zemla, the foundation’s Vice President of the Board and Educational Outreach Chairperson, visited Clarksdale and presented the award to the ninth grader at Meraki Roasting Co.

Last Friday at the Clarksdale Film & Music Festival, the film ‘Ronzo’ was shown for all who attended. The documentary by Filmmaker Jon Brick chronicles the life of Ron ‘Ronzo’ Shapiro, a vibrant character with a big reputation in Oxford, Mississippi. Ronzo was Jon’s cousin.
